What are the benefits of group?
I’ve facilitated groups and workshops my entire career because of the power of group. Group includes the best of both worlds. You get the support of other adoptive parents with the benefit of an expert. Parents learn from one another, but equally important, adoptive parents feel more empowered through these workshops. It’s harder to feel empowered alone, or even in individual or family therapy. And, although each parent’s journey is different, the vulnerability is shared.
What will we cover in the group?
There’s so much potential in the teen years. But, there’s also so much to learn. This is a time of significant shifts in your parenting, when you move from protecting to preparing. These are things you need to know.
We’ll focus in on the four tasks for adoptive parents during the teen years – unrescuing, setting adoption-sensitive limits, having connecting conversations and envisioning the future.
